An AI Consultant Who Installs: Who Owns the Delivery?

An AI consultant who installs takes responsibility for the workflow actually running in your tools, not just for a recommendation document. Ask who builds it, whose accounts it sits in, how it is tested and what you receive at the end. If those answers are vague, the work may stop at advice.

Advice and delivery are different jobs

A report can be useful, but it leaves the building, testing and fixing to you. An installing consultant does that work, which means they also have to be clear about where their responsibility ends. Good providers will say so in writing.

Five ownership questions

  1. Accounts. Will the workflow run in accounts that belong to your business?
  2. Access. What permissions are needed, and can they be limited or withdrawn?
  3. Documentation. Will you receive a plain explanation of how it works?
  4. Testing. What examples were used, and who signed off the result?
  5. After handover. Who looks after changes, faults and monitoring, and on what terms?

Hypothetical worked example

Imagine a vehicle valeting business with a van and two part-time staff. A consultant who only advises produces a report suggesting appointment reminders and a review request after each job. A consultant who installs agrees a scope covering the reminder step only. They set it up in the valeter’s existing booking and messaging tools, test it on last month’s bookings, and leave a one-page guide covering the pause switch and who holds each login. The valeter approves the message wording before any real customer receives it. The two approaches might suit different owners, and the example is invented.

Why scope still matters

Installation does not mean unlimited work. A tight scope prevents the project drifting, and a clear boundary protects both sides. Costs are agreed after the scope is settled, and ongoing support is separate unless the agreement says otherwise.

How Dean works

Dean builds and tests agreed workflows in the tools a business already uses and explains them at handover. Work is remote across the UK, with visits in Hampshire and the immediate surrounding area by agreement. Dean is based in Horndean, Hampshire, so compare other providers and judge the proposals against the questions above.

Questions people ask

Does installation mean everything is automatic?

No. Many installed workflows keep a person approving key steps. The level of automation is agreed and depends on tools, access and monitoring.

What if my tools do not support it?

Then the scope should change. A reliable narrower workflow is better than a fragile ambitious one.

Can I change the system later?

That depends on documentation and access. Ask for both at the start.
